You will gain a closer insight into the examining process and the standards required. Examiners see the full range of abilities and many different approaches. This knowledge is readily transferable into the classroom.

You will improve your knowledge of your subject and qualification areas as well as wider educational issues. We provide regular updating available only to our examiners and moderators which can be particularly useful if you are planning a career break.

You will meet other colleagues at our meetings where you can share experiences, frustrations and good practice.

Many of our examiners have been able to use the experience to enhance their career progression. Examining and moderating experience is also counted as appropriate evidence of professional development for threshold applications.

We find that our examiners become more confident teachers, who can use the knowledge and experience gained to improve the examination performance of their students.

Our training is valuable INSET provided at no cost to the centre.

In addition to paying our examiners, we can also refund the costs of any supply cover through the Teacher Release system when examiners are required to attend one of our training or standardisation events. It's worth noting that there's no obligation to use these funds at the time of the teacher's involvement with CCEA.
