Inspiring music

Our GCSE and GCE Music qualifications include performance as part of the assessment. Visiting examiners listen and mark the students’ performances. At our annual Score concert, we also invite some of our outstanding musicians to perform in front of a much wider audience at the Waterfront Hall in Belfast. This year, the concert took place on Friday 26 February. We selected 14 talented musicians – each with their own interests and styles, from rock and classical to Irish traditional – to take part.

Score - Inspiring Music

For the learners, performing live in the prestigious Waterfront Hall in the presence of family, friends, teachers, peers from other schools and the general public was a great affirmation of their talent and ability. For the listeners, the live performances – backed by visual effects managed by our Multimedia team – provided a memorable, satisfying experience.

This year we used Facebook and Twitter social networks to give both performers and the audience an opportunity to continue to share the experience and congratulate one another long after the event itself.
